Currently we have the Cover Art Archive and someone has proposed a logo image archive. Similarly, it would be a good idea for us to have an archive of event poster images. Currently the only way to link an event (or series of events) to a poster is via a URL relationship. This is problematic for a number of reasons: links go dead over time, some sites prohibit hotlinking, etc.

I mentioned it to someone working on it already, but I wonder how hard it might be to extend this to tours? often an artist will post posters for a whole tour on social media to promote an upcoming tour with all the dates and whatnot. random example after a brief search here (posted here)

I could make a seperate ticket for this, if desired~

I'm working on it, though it may take a few months to see it fully deployed, as there are multiple projects we have to update:

          • https://github.com/metabrainz/coverart_redirect needs to be updated to support /event/ requests. I have a patch for this I'll be submitting soon.
          • https://github.com/metabrainz/CAA-indexer needs to be modified such that it's more reusable for listening on multiple queues (for both CAA and the EAA), and event handlers for the EAA need to be written so that metadata is properly submitted to the IA.
          • musicbrainz-server needs an actual editing interface for the EAA. I suspect this will also require quite a bit of work to reuse the existing CAA code, as it's currently very release-centric.

I didn't necessarily mean literally "copy", yeah Basically, no, not much more than that.

As I already said on IRC, copying the code is a recipe for a maintainability desaster.

In what way will the two archives differ? More than a number of strings, a logo, a different IA collection, and a different set of thumbnail sizes?
