Name: Guitarra de golpe (Wikipedia) a stringed musical instrument from Mexico .
It also is the rhythm guitar of the Mariachi Tradicional, or the Sones de Tierra Calliente.
Also known as: Mariachera, guitarra colorada, quinta colorada, guitarra quinta, quinta, jarana.
Origin: Jalisco, Mexico.

Description: Guitarra de golpe has five nylon strings and is a bit smaller size guitar, but larger than a vihuela. It also has a flat back compared to a arched back of vihuela . Often it is deeper than a normal guitar. Another visual aspect separates Guitarra de golpe from guitar and vihuela is that the peghead looks like a stylised owl.
It is now mostly replaced by guitar or vihuela in contemporary mariachis.
