The sato is an ancient oriental long-necked lute.

Description: bowed tanbur with five strings (one melody, four drone). Frets made of tightly tied string. Made of mulberry wood.
Usage/History: top string pressed to the neck to play melody.
Mainly bowed but can also be plucked. Played in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
