Hello and thank for this great tool
Works very good for mainstream artist. Sadly when you are looking for more underground artist there isn't any relation. I know this is because there isn't enough listening data but maybe there is some solutions :

          • Enhance the matching algorithm to be more flexible if less data is available ?
          • Use metadata instead of listenings :
            • artist relationship though track/album featuring
            • artist appearance in the same releases
            • artist sharing one or more labels (maybe big label should be excluded)

          any opinion ?

          Hello,

Maybe you can add these neighbourhood in the MusicBrainz Artist API.

          1. With a new inc parameters, such as "neighbourhood-rels"
          2. or just added to the existing inc parameters "artist-rels" with a new relation type such as "neighbourhood"

          Example : https://musicbrainz.org/ws/2/artist/b972f589-fb0e-474e-b64a-803b0364fa75?inc=artist-rels

I've been getting some of my remaining Music Neighbourhood thoughts out of my brain and into figma, and in the process realised something that I would really like...

          • Display interconnected artists with nodes of their own (see LB-1510), and give me an infinite scroll/drag and move. And keep loading artists as I move towards the edge. I don't know if this is possible, but if it is it would be a massive change. From a 'small' view centered on a single entity, to feeling like I'm exploring a vast music map.

I would need more info from huhridge, I just tested on Safari v15.6 and Firefox v82, clicking on the bubble on both works fine and takes you to the artist you clicked on.

          My desktop feedback:
Looking great. If we can hide the scrollbars around the gradient background (on my screen there is no scroll, they are greyed out and don't do anything) that would look tidier.
And if we could make the background gradient go full screen/cover the whole background behind the menus, it would look so nice! Adding

          .container-fluid {background-color: azure;}

(would be the gradient colours) works okay, except for the footer...

          My mobile feedback: [mobile screenshot]

          • The options fields at the top is squished and a bit unappealing - it's a bit worse on my partner's (fancier) phone. I think it should follow what we've done with Fresh Releases, and there should be a cog icon above the icon with a drawer that contains those options.
          • It bothered my partner that some of the circles on the outside were half cut off/she couldn't scroll to them - more padding on the outside of our circles?
          • There is a small white gap on the sides on mobile - I think it can be at 100% width without problems.
          • More to the above - I'm starting to think for 'fun' features like this, fuck it, let's drop the footer as well. Then we can have a sick looking full screen of colour that people can drag about in, and hopefully it's easier in terms of making everything full screen size without having to juggle a ton of CSS/different divs, and worrying about maintaining a scroll to the bottom? Just keep brainzplayer and the header.

          IRC, zas:

          • ListenBrainz Music Neighborhood works great, but the page lacks explanation about how it selects neighbors and meaning of colors (or absence of meaning). Chosen colors look too random to me, hard to link them to anything.
          • Also I'd like to be able to increase the number of levels (instead of A0 > A1, having A0>A1->A2).
          • A minor issue: if you search for a band, then navigate following circles, then text search again, pressing search button (magnifying glass) does nothing, nor pressing Enter, it stays on initial search
          • Top Album and Top Track are very often displaying the same cover art (because Top Track is very often in Top Album), not sure what we can do for that, but it bothers me somehow.

          IRC, kellnerd:
For web size -1 a lot of (100?) grey artist bubbles appear: [screenshot]
The size can be decreased further, -100 seems to be the equivalent of 0.
