For the last few weeks, I have tried using the player to listen to songs on different pages (recent listens, playlists...) but it always errors. I get the following popups:

Youtube player error (2) The request contained an invalid parameter value.
Oh no ! (16) We couldn't find a matching song on any music service we tried
No more listens to play You can try loading more listens or refreshing the page

      And inside the player:

You have not provided a valid SoundCloud URL. Learn more about using SoundCloud players.

It looks like it tries both YouTube and SoundCloud and doesn't work on either.

You can test with this playlist:

      https://listenbrainz.org/playlist/0c109440-28d4-4495-9706-f2a54f3fe288

      Or my recent listens:

Testing with Firefox 88.0.1 on Ubuntu 18.04

[LB-906] player does not play any track

Excellent, that makes sense! Looking forward to further developments on LB, it's an exciting project

          Thanks again, Monkey.

          Thanks for the feedback !
Yes, clarifying how the player is configured is on our minds, but I've opened a ticket for that: https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/LB-907

Previously as the youtube player didn't need a log in we had a service available by default, and we're too close to the wall to see that issue

          Hi @Monkey!

Thank you for the detailed answer, I really appreciate it. I didn't realise that Services page existed, as there was no hint to it in the error messages.

You're right, I connected my account and it now works.

Are there plans to add info (either under the player or in the error message) about the user needing to connect their account?

          Closing this now

          Bonjour chtfn,
We recently had to change the way we play music through Youtube, after they deprecated their login-less search functionality.

From now on, ListenBrainz users need to log in to a youtube/google account in order to search for tracks on Youtube. This is unfortunate but unavoidable (we tried!).
You can connect to your youtube account on this page: https://listenbrainz.org/profile/music-services/details/

We are currently in the process of getting the application registered, and until that is confirmed by the Youtube team you will see a message when connecting letting you know that "Google has not yet validated this application".
You can bipass this message by clicking on "advanced settings" as shown below.

That's not ideal either, but temporary. If you prefer, I can let you know when the application has been validated by the Google team.

I can confirm that once connected to Youtube I can play the playlist you mentioned, so everything should be back in order very soon.
          Thanks for your patience !
