We currently require PostgreSQL version 16 with musicbrainz-server, which is supported until November 2028. This matches the version we run in production. As our upgrade to version 16 happened two years ago, we'd now like to take advantage of the many performance improvements in v17 and v18, so we plan to require upgrading to v18 in the May 2026 schema change.
