TL;DR:
Release groups should be ordered more wisely in artist page.
The ones in bold should come absolutely first before any compilations:
- Albums (no secondary types)
- EP (as it means mini-album in many cases)
- Singles
- Lives (as they also are original material)
- Original soundtrack
- Compilations
- Remixes
Through the several artist page re-arrange we had, now the original releases are no longer grouped first as they used to be.
We should have the original releases first, by this order which seems the more naturally understood:
- Original studio albums
- Original studio singles
- Official lives
Then we have the others (compilations, bootlegs, etc.)
If because of the main/secondary release-group type, this is impossible, at least put those first:
- Albums (no secondary type, or studio if it then exist)
- Singles (no secondary type)
- Live (no secondary type)
In the current situation, you do have half of the original studio releases first, the albums first but then you can't find the rest of the original studio releases, the singles without browsing lots of re-releases, compilations etc.
Official lives should also be split from bootlegs and put following those two official release types.
Sorry if my text is not really clear.
Maybe the current display can be handy for some people maybe even for me I don't know (I would personally prefer an official timeline with those three together but without the unofficial). So maybe there should be ways to re-order or stuff.
But I'm suggesting to default display what a lambda user would expect to see as a discography (
A. official 1.studio albums, 2.studio singles, 3.lives 4.misc (compilations, interviews, etc.);
B. unofficial stuff
).
