Currently releases which have a discID do not allow the tracklist to be edited at all.

It would be nice to be able to add 'sub-tracks' to indicate track indexes other than 1 (including track 1 pre-gap as well as index 2 and beyond.)

Example of a release which has extra indexes:
http://musicbrainz.org/release/0f0ee898-5d36-42d5-a77a-5161331aae6a (track 7 has 4 indexes total). DiscID is here: http://musicbrainz.org/cdtoc/pzH0NGo5pnBHn9eEKKz8yHcAkJg-

It would also be nice if there was a style guide or FAQ entry for handling CD tracks with additional (separate) songs as indexed parts of a track.  The closest I've found is the RFC linked to in STYLE-121, however sub-indexed tracks are still (more than 10 years later) not supported.

I voted this ticket because we lack track indexes support. This ticket is about that.

"Also I think that there should be a better support in the webUI for the compilation relationship
especially in the release editor and in the release page."

Yes, this is what I was particularly asking for.

The compilation relationship type is not very helpful for this, unfortunately.

          pre-gap is related because it is "track 1.0" (i.e. index/sub-track 0 of track 1).

For sub-tracks we have recording - recording "compilation" relationship.

Unfortunately this relationship is missing ordering information.
There is already a ticket for ordering of sub-works which is similar to ordering of sub-tracks:

Also I am not sure if it is suitable for the track 1 pre-gap.
