I made a manual series because i didn't want it to be sorted alphabetically.
I want to sort by date then catalogue number to reflect label's issue order.
So I added RG one by one and specify numbers (1 then 2) then i realised it would be handy if it would auto matically add the numbers when i add RG and it did for numbers 3,4,5,6,7... in the edit page
But in the end, those have no numebr and are unordered.

IMO, if we don't specify the number on a manual series, it should auto assign maximum+1 number, display it (up to now it's the case) and then set it in the edits (not the case).

Oh but actually i still see my correct numbers in https://musicbrainz.org/series/fd565848-7c48-47ab-b623-4dc91d1ce88d/edit maybe the attribute called number is optional and i shouldn't have used it as it's bogus in my case ?

          Maybe no bug.
Especially as it seems now we just have automatic series, no longer manual series. It's nice.

Is there a bug here then or not?

When you use automatic ordering, it's automatically ordered by the number on the relationship.

When you use manual ordering, you can put anything (or nothing) into the number field, it's not used for ordering purposes; instead, you can manually give each entry a position (which is a different number, that is not displayed outside the edit page).

Oh is it by design ?
the number is optional and the order is kept.
it's just do we want visible numbers or not ?
maybe it's not natural how to edit series... for me ?
