The registration form contains this hint regarding the email address field:

You must provide a working email address if you wish to contribute to the database.

This makes it sound as if you could choose to leave the field blank if you don't actually wish to contribute. This actually was the case before MBS-7226, which made entering an email address mandatory.

We should change it to some wording that is less ambiguous.
