When having the ListenBrainz app installed, I accidentally recorded a bunch of listens for media that I didn't expect, such as non-music Youtube videos or media playing on web pages in my web browser. This is a significant privacy concern!
The ListenBrainz app should only record listens from specific selected apps, and installing a new app should not automatically enabled recording listens from that app.
This probably requires having an onboarding flow, where you select which apps to record listens during initial setup. Also consider showing a notification when a new app is detected to ask if the user would like to record listens from that app.
With "opt in" rather than "opt out", the 🚫 icon for the app selector makes no sense. It should probably be a more generic preferences icon like ⚙️ or similar. It would be better to have it visible on all panels, too, instead of only on the profile panel - I had a really hard time finding it.
