Wiki turns references to MB tags with spaces into broken links

Both [[mb:tag/fictitious artist|fictitious artist]] and [[mb:tag/fictitious%20artist|fictitious artist]] are turned into a link to https://musicbrainz.org/tag/fictitious_artist which does not exist...
And [[mb:tag/fictitious+artist|fictitious artist]] is interpreted as a literal plus instead of a space.
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Magic_words#urlencode did not help as well, the mb:tag shortcut seems to use some kind of post-processing which ignores URL encoding and replaces spaces with underscores.

The only way I got this working is via [https://musicbrainz.org/tag/fictitious%20artist fictitious artist] (which has the downside of being treated as external link).

In any case, the visual editor breaks these links, external or internal doesn't matter.

Ah, the visual editor. I don't know how to use this, I always use the Edit code button, because those visual editors don't work well with me.

But these are external links! 😉
They are not wiki pages. It's not a downside, it's normal.
I don't know how we use this link popup, but it's normal that everything else than wiki pages are external links, even if they are on lusicbrainz.org.

We should drop support for special links, IMO.

if we do so, we need to be sure to change how the visual editors link function works too

I personally don't see much issue with the special links, but consistency between everything is probably a good idea~ (if possible)

Those special links, they are not useful and take time to write.

Copy paste URL is fast and it works.

UltimateRiff added a comment - inserting a %20 in place of spaces also doesn't work https://community.metabrainz.org/t/mb-tag-wiki-links-breaking-with-spaces-in-the-url/697728?u=ultimateriff
