Linux, Windows
Picard limits the length of a file's full name (path/file) to 255 characters, even though no current OS imposes such a limit.
This should probably be updated to limit only an individual component (one directory or one filename) to 255 bytes, and have OS-specific full pathname lengths (4096 for Linux, 32767 for Windows/NTFS)
Reference http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_file_systems for these limitations.
