Steps to reproduce:

1. Highlight / select the release in the albums pane
2. Right click on the tags pane
3. Select "Add new tag..."
4. Select "originaldate"
5. Enter a 4-digit year (e.g.: 1978)
6. Click "Save"

Note that the function works properly if all of the individual tracks are selected rather than selecting the release.
