For dual layer discs, such as hybrid SACD / Audio CD releases, MusicBrainz handles the separate layers as separate mediums.
Users might often only tag one layer (e.g. only rip the CD part of the SACD) and tag this. There should be an option to enable special handling of those hybrid CDs. This might include:
- Ignoring the additional layer when checking for completeness
- Setting %totaldiscs% and %_totalalbumtracks% accordingly, ignoring the additional layer
To consider:
- This should be optional, users might very well tag all layers
- There are cases where the content of the layers differ. This cases probably need to be detected
- Which layer to use? Maybe we need a way to allow users to ignore specific layers (multiple), e.g. specifically ignore " Hybrid SACD (CD layer)" and "DualDisc (DVD video side)"
- Users probably still should be able to use those layers on a case by case basis. Meaning we should probably display the tracks, but mark them
