As stated in the title, Picard gets stuck on exit when the pipe file gets removed by the user. 

It should be handled somehow, or at least included in the docs (deleting the pipe file causes unexpected behavior) before 3.0 release. 

So this ticket is also a question whether you think that it should be handled or left with unexpected behavior warning.
