In Options > File naming > Compatibility the replacement character to use for directory separators (slash or on Windows both slash and backslash) can be configured. It is however possible to set this replacement itself to be a directory separator.

This will lead e.g. to slashes in variables ("AC/DC") to stay in file naming script and trigger creation of directories.
