I recently submitted https://github.com/metabrainz/picard/pull/3347 to add some tags to Picard. When I use the build with this PR, if I type the beginning of one of the tags in the drop down to add it to a track it auto completes the rest of the tag, eg. if I type "dance_" I get an autocomplete list of all the tags that start with this.

It was suggested on the PR that this should be a plugin instead and someone else made it:

This registers the same tags with the v3 API "api.register_script_variable". This works the same way as far as making the tags have localizable names, however they do not autocomplete in the drop down when using the plugin (which is most of what I wanted in the original feature request/PR to speed up data entry).

 

They requested that I file an issue, so here I am. The desired outcome would be for tags added via plugins to auto complete the same as tags built into Picard.
