Please add an option so that users of Picard can set the maximum length for directory and file names.
On my Windows PC at least, Picard is making path lengths of 232 characters, and this is causing some programs problems, even though the maximum path length on Windows is supposed to be 255. The file name length is 78 characters, and the directory length is 86 characters.
It would be nice if I could say, I don't want any directories or file names to be longer than 64 characters, and then Picard would remove any part of the file name that goes beyond that limit.
This is completely uncontroversial, as no change is being forced on users. It simply allows users to change the default limits if they're having problems with them.
This could be fixed together with: http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/PICARD-110 which has been open for almost a year now.
