When a hidden variable has been registered by a plugin using `api.register_script_variable('_test', 'test variable`)` it is not removed when using `api.unregister('_test')`.  It can be removed using `api.unregister('test')` (without the leading underscore), but this is not intuitive, nor is it explained anywhere in the documentation.
