In Wikidata, it is allowed to add entries for specific releases.
      For example, please see:

So, MusicBrainz should accept Wikidata links for releases too, not only release groups.

[STYLE-2661] Unlock release and recording Wikidata relationships

I now understand why it's not possible to add these Wikidata entries right now.

Voting for a Wikidata entry should be the easiest way to avoir wrong submits.

Yes, we know these exist, but we also know that there's no way people are going to add the stuff correctly; release groups are harder to edit, so most people (especially beginners) will just throw everything at the release and hope it sticks. Which means if we support these on releases, a ton of release-group level stuff is going to be submitted wrong.

We will eventually have to unlock these, since I can only imagine Wikidata is going to get more and more of these entries. But I'd much rather wait as long as possible, honestly.

Yota Moteuchi added a comment - Hi Aerozol. Here are some examples where these are used on Wikidata and not added by me: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q51717728 https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4794129 https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q57781669 https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q28336101 https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q60734301

Do you have examples where these are used on Wikidata, not added by you?

It makes sense to have these from a data perspective, from a "users being users" perspective I suspect we will have far more incorrectly added release relationships (that actually belong on the release group). Unless/until it becomes widespread on Wikidata (fingers crossed) I would not look forward to cleaning up after the mistakes.

I don't know. I have been starting to use the Musicbrainz properties in Wikidata for one month or so on.
But, in all cases, the property P5813 "MusicBrainz release ID" exists in Wikidata.
Why MusicBrainz couldn't do the same, linking a Wikidata page for release?
