MusicInAfrica.net is a website operated by the not-for-profit Music in Africa Foundation. One of the site's main features is a directory of artists, studios, production companies, engineers, and music festivals (among many more) in African countries. Every entity has a profile page with a simple URL format. (This universality is convenient, as there are many entity categories.) The site has two language options: English and French. The Foundation incorporated in 2013; the site has been online since 2014.
This site is both a professional directory and a de facto encyclopedia. It has historical and biographical information, streaming media, official links, city and country, and (especially rare and valuable for MB editors) the start date for the entity. I've found it to be a valuable resource in my research. From what I've seen, streaming audio is embedded from third parties (such as Soundcloud and Deezer), but video is hosted. Artists and other professionals can claim their profile and add/update content. It is now one of the most important music websites for the continent of Africa.

I propose that MB whitelist MiA links for these entity types:
- artists
- labels
- places
- series (for event series)
Examples of URLs that map to MB entities
Artist: Congo Cowboys

URLs
Profile pages have two URL schemes, which apply to all pertinent MB entity types (artists, labels, places, and event series):
Numerical
https://www.musicinafrica.net/node/270425
Slug
https://www.musicinafrica.net/directory/zolani-mahola-feminine-force
List of archived "node" URLs:
https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://www.musicinafrica.net/node/*
List of archived "slug" URLs:
https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://www.musicinafrica.net/directory/*
MiA calls directory URLs with slugs "canonical" URLs; node/numerical URLs are called "shortlinks". The URLs in both schemes are in the HEAD section of the page source:
<link rel="canonical" href="https://www.musicinafrica.net/directory/zolani-mahola-feminine-force" /> <link rel="shortlink" href="https://www.musicinafrica.net/node/270425" />
Shortlinks often redirect to canonical URLs, but some directory pages do not have a URL with a slug. Example: https://www.musicinafrica.net/node/11907
In those cases, the canonical URL and the shortlink URL are both the same numerical/node URL. I haven't fuzzed the entire space of numerical IDs, but it appears that node IDs have a minimum of 3 digits. Example: https://www.musicinafrica.net/node/340
Slugs can contain diacritics. Example:
CNRS – Musée de l’Homme
https://www.musicinafrica.net/directory/cnrs-%E2%80%93-mus%C3%A9e-de-l%E2%80%99homme
MB should accept both URL types, but slugs are preferred. A few years ago, some node numbers changed and pointed to a different entity. I don't know how widespread the change was or why it happened. I hope it was a one-time system change. I can show examples with further explanation if that would be useful.
