I was going to add https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stormlight_Archive and thought it might be of type "Epic". After asking on IRC if that was right, it was pointed out to me that "Epic" most likely refers to epic poetry (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epic_poetry) not the modern use of the epic genre (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epic_(genre)).
What might this even more unclear is that I'm a native german speaker and "Epik" in german is used for basically every narrative story nowadays:
Mit der zunehmenden Differenzierung der epischen Dichtung im 18. Jahrhundert und
der Entwicklung der Prosa werden unter dem Begriff Epik alle Genres der
erzählenden Literatur erfasst.
With the increasing differentiation of epic poetry in the 18th century and the development of prose all genres of narrative literature are included under the term epic
(from https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epik#Geschichte - if you scroll further down in that article you'll see that novels, short stories, ... are all considered epic)
