Additional clarity is needed in the documentation about edition groups.
The website FAQ seems to suggest that each publisher gets its own edition group:
- Different formats of the same edition (paperback, hardcover and e-book by the same publisher)
As a case study, The Count of Monte Cristo leveraging the Anonymous 1846 translation has several hundred English paperback, hardcover, and eBook editions across 100+ publishers at this point.
1) Are all of these editions by all publishers to be placed in a single edition group?
2) Or are only the eBook and hardcover edition published by Union Square & Co. to be placed in an edition group together? And the editions published by Everyman's Library to be placed in their own group? Etc.
If the #2 is the case, then a publisher-edition group relationship needs to be created so we can ensure duplicate publisher-level edition groups aren't created.
If #1 is the case, then the documentation needs to be updated to clarify that publisher is not relevant to edition group.
Another point of ambiguity: Based on the user guide it appears that translations are to be distinguished using the Works object. To use the case study from above, if #1 is correct then presumably that means that all editions of the Count of Monte Cristo regardless of which translation is leveraged/work is leveraged would be placed into the same edition-group, correct?
