The "zambomba" is a percussion instrument very popular in Christmas traditional music in Spain and Latin America. It consists of a hollow cylinder with one of its ends closed with a patch, which is crossed through the center with a rod. When rubbing the rod with both hands, the vibration produce a serious and peculiar sound. See Wikipedia (in Spanish).
