Currently our mbira entry is basically every kind of lamellophone in one, this isn't fantastic. Given that we actually have very many different versions of viols, we differentiate fiddle from violin and () etcetera, this seems idiosyncratic (and a wee bit western-centric)
We should clean up, and separate all the "thumb piano" instruments; give them separate entries and good pictures. I know not much about this and there seems to be limited "Whole Africa scope" information out there which isn't basically "call it mbira or kalimba or whatever"/"no they are separate instruments blah" arguments from (mostly) western people.
This ticket needs work and, people are welcomed to add comments or examples, also suggestions of literature for me to read would be very welcome thank you!
Grove will be a great help here.
