Playing listens in BrainzPlayer via YouTube is a total hit and miss. Sometimes it's perfect other times it's complete crap like spam videos with completely different titles. That shouldn't happen.

I'm a big user (and small contributor) of WebScrobbler, but I missed this feature, thanks!
I turned off YT scrobbling a long time ago, because relatedly it would scrobble videos about music (i.e. in the Music category) that are not music. Great to see someone thought of a fix !
I'll take a look and see if we could apply some of this mechanism.

So far I tried using that same internal Youtube API they use in the extension to search YoutubeMusic instead of the official Youtube API, but no luck for our use case.
It would also be very brittle as it is unofficial and undocumented so I'm not that keen on adding a flimsy feature that could just break playback one day to the next.

We can't do a whole lot to improve the situation; Youtube's API search results are pretty bad.

The one thing that could improve our hits, but which could also restrict them in an unwanted way, would be to search only in the "Music" category.

I'll evaluate how helpful that could be and compare it to potential drawbacks.
