Currently it is possible for players to send metadata such as Recording, Track, Release, and Artist MBIDs. These should describe exactly what the user is listening to regardless of the other metadata supplied and so it would make sense to use them in favour of automapping where possible. The Track ID alone should be enough to map to the correct Release, Artist, and Recording. My understanding is that currently listenbrainz maps to recordings, so Track ID may be more difficult to implement, but Release ID could definitely be accounted for under the current system

Of course it's not reasonable to expect that every user would supply this information, but if it is present then it should probably take priority over automapping which is prone to mismatching data or assuming the wrong release for a recording
