The new Last.FM importer works fine, but is missing something we had in the previous version: a readout of some sort so users know everything is working fine and they just need to wait a bit.
Currently there is no other feedback than a "successfully connected" message, leaving users to wonder if they did it right, or if something is broken, or what.
This is very clear form multiple users asking the same question, for example in https://community.metabrainz.org/t/question-regarding-last-fm-scrobble-imports/723293
A couple of options, not sure which ones are applicable:
- Show a generic status indicator ("in queue", "importing", "synced", that sort of thing)
- Show the number of imported scrobbles
- Show a percentage of imported scrobbles based on LFM total count
- At the very least if none of the above are possible, some statiuc message letting the user know the average wait time before they see their scrobbles in their account.
I think the system we have in place for the data exports is a great example. We have a little "refresh" button so users can know the info is current, and it gives them a status indicator.
