Tickets are currently handled by an instance of JIRA 7.2 which should be upgraded to JIRA 8.
It is also the opportunity to switch to another node provider.
There currently are about:
- 18K issues (including 4K not closed issues),
- with 38K comments,
- and 4K attachments,
- across 28 projects,
- for 2K users (including 200 active logged-in users in 2019).
Server-side requirements for production for a smaller number (1,000 to 5,000) of issues:
- were 2GB RAM for JIRA 7.4 (until JIRA 7.12),
- are 8GB RAM for JIRA 8 (since JIRA 7.13).
Plus, JIRA has to be backed by a PostgreSQL 9.x database.
The current node has 4 GB RAM and 2 vCPU to run both JIRA 7.2 and PostgreSQL 9.5.
The new node should probably have at least 8 GB RAM and 2 vCPU. If not enough, we can still move to a more powerful node later on.
Both JIRA instances should be available during the migration. JIRA has a Nginx proxy connector and can be relocated at a different base URL (both domain name and path).
