Tidal (https://tidal.com/) is a paid-tier-only streaming service. They recently updated their URL format so that our system no longer autoselects them. These links would be a perfect fit for the new "streaming page" relationship.

[MBS-10621] Add autoselect + sidebar for Tidal URLs

lotheric, the error message is correct: “This URL is […] incorrectly formatted”. But it doesn’t bring an easy way to fix URL format. Opened MBS-12005 to improve the URL editor about that.

Editing a Tidal link added before this ticket (prefixed by "listen") gives the following results:

I wanted to edit the "credited as Connaisseur Ticaso" part (remove it)...

          Thank you lotheric.

          1. (no change)
          2. The store doesn’t seem to be country-specific after all, it just has different languages for the user interface; Thus removing the 2-letters code when there is one.
          3. From Xythium’s comment to the pull request, it seems that `listen.tidal.com` is dedicated to the desktop application, and `tidal.com`is general-purpose, so using that for the normalized form: https://tidal.com/<type>/<id>

I ignored playlist (only one occurrence for now: url) and beyonce (only one occurrence too: url). They can be entered but there is no code to help with.

They recently updated their URL format so that our system no longer autoselects them.

There has never been any autoselect for Tidal URLs, it never prevented to enter these either.

I just found several other types of Tidal URLs in the database which are not documented in this ticket:

          From that, I guess:

          1. Tracks and videos should be allowed for MB recordings.
          2. Store URLs should be kept country-specific and linked as purchase for download.
          3. All other URLs (destktop, listen, stage, www) should be converted to the main tidal.com format and be linked as (paid) streaming.
Indeed, it seems these differ by the presentation only, neither by the available content nor the streaming format.

Is that correct? What about playlists? A confirmation by a Tidal user would be nice to have.

FWIW, there currently are over 3K Tidal URLs in the database, about 900 using the new format. It is indeed a perfect fit for STYLE-1287, Tidal is even given as an example in the relationship type definition.
