This is a bit difficult to explain, but I've seen this behaviour a few times.

Most recently had to fix : https://beta.musicbrainz.org/edit/103065559

      So with this example:

      1. I am adding a release (https://beta.musicbrainz.org/release/9f856c57-71ee-47a1-95d8-3d03721652d7)
      2. As I don't want to lose the durations seeded via atisket I do not choose a duplicate entry to seed from
      3. I proceed to the Recordings entry tab
      4. I begin to pick the relevant recording from the suggestions on the right side
      5. I accidentally pick the wrong recording from the right and realising my mistake type in the search field the correct recording name, I then choose that recording
      6. The recording then looks right on the track listing
      7. On the final page (Edit Note) I see that it is going to change the recording name of the originally selected recording to whatever I typed in the search field
      8. Upon saving my changes, it has changed that recording to the wrong name
      9. I have to then go into that recording and roll it back to the correct title
