We should limit a beginners* edits to [20? 50?] edits per day.
This is mainly to assuage frustration on the part of existing and new editors, but may also assist with vandalism attempts.
It's no fun for new editors to do hours of work, and be met the next morning with hundreds of downvotes. At the same time, it is no fun for experienced editors to have to sift through hundreds of edits leaving the same feedback. Not a good time for anybody!
Let's give everyone some breathing space.
*I can't remember if we still require a user to have a certain amount of voted-upon edits to stop being new users/if we still have trouble with users being 'beginners' forever. If so we could maybe also have this expire after a certain amount of time + edits - but tbh it's probably putting a plaster on the core issue of needing to improve how beginner users are promoted.
