Currently, the MusicBrainz database only supports "parent" and "subsidiary" relationships to describe the hierarchical structure between record labels. However, in many cases, a record label is not just a subsidiary of another label but is actually a division within the same company. This distinction is important for accurately representing the organizational structure of music companies.
I propose adding a new relationship type called "division" to the MusicBrainz database. This new relationship would allow users to specify that one label is a division of another label, rather than just a subsidiary or parent.
- Example 1: "Warner Bros. Records" is a division of "Warner Music Group."
- Example 2: "Atlantic Records" is a division of "Warner Music Group."
