Currently it's not impossible to add them, but you have to manually specify one of the allowed relationship types, none of which seems fitting: https://musicbrainz.org/relationships/event-url

What I'd like is for MB to recognize IMDB links for what they are when added on events, as it's already the case for Artists and Release Groups. Plenty of music events get televised, as a result they get their IMDB entries categorized as TV series, TV specials etc. which might be useful for cross reference.

[MBS-13961] Allow IMDB links for events

Hmm. I think my problem with this is that the musical event and the video broadcast are two different things. The thing the IMDB matches with would seem to be a broadcast release, not the concert itself.

I mostly need them for the Eurovision Song Contest and similar events, which are TV shows among other things, therefore eligible to have an IMDB page.

For example, here are the entries for the last year's edition on both web-sites: MB & IMDB

Even when the MB event gets filled with all relevant info, a link to IMDB might still be a nice referral for further info that may not be suited for MUSICbrainz but can be found in the latter (e.g. technical crew).

Not to make this only for my niche interests, another example I could think of was SNL. There's already an extensive (though not complete) series on MB where each event corresponds to one of the episodes. For similar reasons I mentioned above, I don't think there would be any harm in linking the corresponding IMDB page on each of them. For example: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27125943/ > https://musicbrainz.org/event/c179b5da-da45-4d40-9282-ce2b3eb1d482

Do you have some examples? It kinda feels that IMDB would belong at a recording/release level for the event's music, not at the event level.
