This might actually be classified as a bug, since it is feature regression.
STEPS:
Say you're adding a V/A release, and the label and a lot of the artists names are kind of non-descript, like say one of the artist's name is K, and the label is something fairly overused, like Smash or Liquid or Hit.
With the old add release page, you could...
- Type in the name and get a list of (usually two or three) potential matches.
- Pick one to try using your best guess. The chosen name would appear as a link.
- Right-click on the name to open it up in a different page so you can check their other releases, chronology, catalog numbering schemes, etc. to see if that's the right one. If it isn't, just pick the next one on the list and repeat. Usually you can figure it out pretty fast.
With the current NGS page, when you pick a name from the list of potential matches, the that gets entered is just text; clicking on it does nothing (even right-clicking really hard while using profanity). So if you want to check which labelss on the list might be a match, you have to open another window and manually search for the artists or labels, click through the candidates from that page, then find the corresponding one on the list on the add page. (Granted, comments are supposed to make this easier, but there are still a lot or duplicate names that don't have them, or they're not distinct enough to provide an answer.)
