Compare the edit history view of classic.mb.org[1] with that of the current system/NGS[2].
The classic is much more compact, easier to read, and gives a better overview of the history.
On my system, the entire history on classic (or at least the last 5 'old' edits) fits easily on one screen, while the NGS view spreads out over 3 screensful.
This, despite the fact that NGS displays a lot of stuff side-by-side instead of above each other (e.g. release name changes).
There is a vast amount of whitespace and very little content, making it extremely hard to understand what's happened over the history of a release. I see lots of room for improvement:
- Remove whitespace
- Remove extraneous linebreaks
- Don't show "No edit notes have been added." for every edit, with its additional whitespace above/below
- Merges should be a two-column view with the sources on one column and the destination on the other.
- Collapsible tracklists would help for many tracklist edits — just give a few release details to inform the editor whether this is a release they care about (e.g. name, label, cat number, track count)
