See http://musicbrainz.org/edit/17793874 where autocorrection fails and creates an URL that links to a non‐existing page (returns 404).
It seems that currently automatic Amazon URL correction doesn't consider that the URL might lead to an artist (store) page (like http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kosheen/e/B000APRTKE) instead of a release one.
http://www.amazon.com/b/?&node=721517011 says there are at least 350 000 artist stores, so it seems like autocorrect should take these into an account. The page also shows how an example how a longer URL is used to link to a shorter one and could be easily autocorrected:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html/ref=amb_link_7764682_1?location=http://www.amazon.com/Carrie-Underwood/e/B0017PAU8Y/%20&token=3A0F170E7CEFE27BDC730D3D7344512BC1296B83&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-4&pf_rd_r=0WX9S8HSE9M2WG1YZJE4&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=80631142&pf_rd_i=721517011 → http://www.amazon.com/Carrie-Underwood/e/B0017PAU8Y/
