Distinguish visibly between pending edits on relationships and on their targets

      Links to entities with pending edits are highlighted with a yellow background (class="mp"); at least they are supposed to, as there are several cases where this doesn't work. For relationships, however, such a pending edit highlighting can refer to the related entity, to the relationship itself, or even both. Here is an example with several possible combinations:

      As can be seen, relationships with extra information such as dates have this extra text highlighted only when the relationship itself has pending edits; still, the target entity may or may not have pending edits itself. For relationships without such extra text, it is impossible to tell if the highlighting refers to the target, the relationship, or both.

      This is clearly unsatisfactory. But how can we distinguish the different cases in a better way?
