I noticed that in the section "Recent Additions" on the front page of MusicBrainz http://musicbrainz.org/ sometimes this text shows in an image box up instead of a cover art image:
Image not available yet, please try again in a few minutes.
I think this information is not useful for most of the users of MusicBrainz and not at all for random or new visitors. The relevant code on the web page is:
<div style="clear: both; padding-top: 1%;" class="feature-column">
<h2>Recent Additions</h2>
<div style="height: 160px; overflow: hidden;">
<div class="artwork-cont" style="text-align: center">
<div class="artwork">
<a title="Karcolatok 20 by Ákos"
href="http://beta.musicbrainz.org/release/b64e4017-761f-4cca-8c08-353b13376a1d"> <img />
<script>
$('img').last().bind('error', function (event) { $(this).closest('a').replaceWith('<em>Image not available yet, please try again in a few minutes.<\/em>'); }).attr("src", "//coverartarchive.org/release/b64e4017-761f-4cca-8c08-353b13376a1d/7200905503-250.jpg");
</script> </a>
</div>
</div>
The Javascript code changes the entry without image to:
<div class="artwork-cont" style="text-align: center">
<div class="artwork">
<em>Image not available yet, please try again in a few minutes.</em>
</div>
</div>
I think that the entry without image should either
- disappear completely or
- show some useful information for normal users — like artist and title of the album linked to the MusicBrainz release page
- duplicates
