It doesn't seem like it's possible to merge multiple recordings in a single edit, only 2 at a time. If there are many recordings to be merged, you have to be quite careful with merging them all to the same target, which is quite tricky. I wouldn't mind a checkbox per recording in the recording listing to merge many, as with release groups in pre-NGS MusicBrainz.
