Some releases, e.g. Jay-Z's The Black Album or Gangnam Style are crowded with information about the songs being sampled or mashed up in other recordings. Such info is not interesting or relevant to the releases at hand and limits readability of the actual release credits. However, I still want to know which songs were sampled/mashed up on Danger Mouse's Grey Album or that "Justify My Thug" uses samples from "Rock Box" and "Justify My Love".
I therefore think that recording-recording ARs should be hidden in release view, one-way only:
- karaoke versions
- edits
- later releases (deprecated anyway)
- remasters (deprecated anyway)
- compiled in
- DJ-mixes
- remixes
- sampled by
- mash-ups
All ARs should of course still be shown when looking at the recording itself. As for release/[...]/edit-relationships the same behavior I proposed here might reduce clutter as well, but this should be discussed separately.
