i stumbled upon this edit: https://musicbrainz.org/edit/7393229 and as you can see, the name of the parent label in question is missing.
from the present relationships of Manhattan Records, it's possibly one of several labels that were eventually merged into Capitol Records: https://musicbrainz.org/search/edits?auto_edit_filter=&order=desc&negation=0&combinator=and&conditions.0.field=label&conditions.0.operator=%3D&conditions.0.name=Capitol+Records&conditions.0.args.0=155&conditions.0.user_id=407536&conditions.1.field=type&conditions.1.operator=%3D&conditions.1.args=14&conditions.2.field=status&conditions.2.operator=%3D&conditions.2.args=2
or alternatively, possibly an entity that was purged from the system due to zero relationships. from the annotation here: https://musicbrainz.org/label/7b076dce-d513-44b9-b9ae-7e6e938da605 that might have been "Capitol Jazz and Classics" whose name is not among those merged into Capitol Records above.
but that being the case, i would expect the grayed-out name of whichever label it was to still be retained for records purposes. what if it had been a case where both parent and child entities were removed (due to merges or whatever)?
