Report of recordings which share an ISRC

      • would be great for potential recording merges

Report of recordings which have multiple ISRC

      • would be great to spot mistakes and split recordings according to their ISRC

There'll be too many correct cases according to the current style guidelines.

It is best not to burden the server with daily computation of worthless report, even though there might be worthless reports being computed (please let me know if any).

(Note: ticket is closed but comments remain opened.)

Thanks. Any chance of a CSV file? A lot easier to handle

I'm of the opinion, that if a seperate ISRC has been obtained and issued, then that distinction should be preserved in MusicBrainz.

This is not the case, due to the above mentioned style guidelines. If you want to discuss this style issue, please open a topic on “MusicBrainz Style” forum first, then create a [STYLE](https://tickets.metabrainz.org/projects/STYLE/) ticket if this is supported by others. (See the whole process for proposals.)

I still attached a snapshot report of the current 15920 recordings with more than one ISRC, so that you have an insight of what it would be looking like: 2018-06-20-snapshot-report-mbs-8907.html

That would be me saying yes, basically

please can you explain what this is, or point me to where it is being discussed?

We don't keep remasters separate and don't split recordings by ISRC so I'm not sure if there's a real use case for this. There'll be too many correct cases to find the ones that should actually be split, I suspect.

For your information, there are about 16K recordings having multiple ISRCs at the moment.

          The code is here: https://github.com/yvanzo/musicbrainz-server/commit/3c66d0cf157cc7a107319b00c60d5a817e68aa5e

Just waiting for a style approval before submitting a pull request.

          "From https://musicbrainz.org/doc/ISRC
different recordings, edits, remixes and remasters of the same song will each be assigned their own ISRC"

First, regardless of what the style guide says, remasters have been assigned their own ISRCs. This is a fact.

However, this ticket is a request for a report to show the use of multiple ISRCs. I'm happy to write it, if I can be directed at where to do the work.
          Thanks
