EU directive 2002/58/EC, last amended by directive 2009/136/EC (nicknamed the "cookie directive") poses certain requirements, in particular regarding the use of browser cookies, on websites targeting (also) an EU audience. Loosely speaking, setting a cookie requires previous consent by the user; there are, however, two exemptions. There is a semi-official interpretation of these exemptions by the Data Protection Working Party, its opinion 04/2012 on cookie consent exemption.

It's clear that the MB website currently doesn't fulfil these requirements, so it needs to be fixed.
