Hi,
I am Harshit Agrawal,Undergraduate student at National Institute of Technology, Allahabad.I have found a bug in MusicBrainz site.
IDEA::->
At MusicBrainz many pepole search for information regarding music albums and artists and etc.It is easy to get their info if we know their(Artists or Album) name but sometimes it is possible (actually mostly) that we do not their name exactly.We have an idea like if we want to search the albums of "Sonu Nigam" but we remember that the name may be Sonu or may be we remember Nigam.but if we search for these two cases in MusicBrainz then we get different results as::
"Sonu" ::
1. Sonu Nigam & Gayatri Iyer
2. Sonu Nigam and Gayatri Iyer
3. Sonu Nigam, Kunal Ganjawala, Sunidhi Chauhan, Richa
4. Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal
5. Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Suzanne DMello
6. Sonu Ramgarhia
7. Sonus
8. Sonus Fluctus
9. Sonus Quartet
10. Sonus Umbra
but if we search for "Nigam":::
1. Nigam, Nikita
2. Nigam, Sonu
3. Nigam, Sonu & Ghosal, Shreya
4. Nigam, Sonu & Iyer, Mahalakshmi
5. Nigam, Sonu & Rathod, Roopkumar
6. Nigam, Sonu, Mahalaxmi & Chinai, Alisha
and for "Sonu Nigam" ::
1. Sonu Nigam & Gayatri Iyer
2. Sonu Nigam and Gayatri Iyer
3. Sonu Nigam, Kunal Ganjawala, Sunidhi Chauhan, Richa
4. Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal
5. Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Suzanne DMello
that means entirely different in all three cases. So if a user is new then he will not get the desired result.It is seen from the above discussion that at MusicBrainz searching is done from starting to our database.It means that if we search "Sonu" then it takes it as a string and search it in our database and show only result where it find "Sonu" in starting.It does not concern with to find "Sonu" word in entire string.so i want to remove this drawback.
Please tell me am i going in right way or not?
