Request Overview

Requesting a username update for the account jflory to be renamed to jwheel.

Context

This request follows a legal name change from "Flory" to "Wheeler" completed in February 2025. My new requested username, jwheel, reflects my current legal identity and matches the handle used on my personal domain (https://jwheel.org) and other external platforms.

Affected Systems

The primary change must occur in the MusicBrainz Server database. However, as MusicBrainz acts as the central authentication provider (IDP) for the ecosystem, the following downstream services likely require manual intervention to ensure the local user tables reflect the new username:

• MusicBrainz Server: Primary IDP
• JIRA: Ticket tracking
• Discourse: Community forums
• MediaWiki: Wiki contributions
• Weblate: Translation platform
• WordPress: MetaBrainz Blog
• Possibly others? ListenBrainz?

Technical Notes for Administrators

I am aware that while the MusicBrainz Server handles authentication, several of the services listed above create local user accounts that verify against MB Server but do not automatically sync username changes (renames).

Please verify if the username change propagates successfully to these attached services. If the propagation fails or creates a disjointed "new" account, I request manual database adjustments to migrate history and permissions to the jwheel username.
