Picard should use delete or ⌘⌫ (Command+Delete) for removing files from Picard in addition to the backspace/del key on macOS. On most Macs, the backspace/del key is only available on extended keyboards and to remove files in Picard users have to hit the awkward fn+⌫ key combo.

Ok, thanks. Yes, I would have called this the "backspace" key Should be easy enough to have react to "⌘⌫" then. And thanks for your patience, not a mac user (not counting the macmini on my desk I use for testing).

If you look at the Erase to the Right picture, it is only available while the fn key is held down.

Ok, can you point me to a picture of a keyboard layout where I can see which key you mean?

The name's been changed in more recent versions, but back in the mists of time as I recall delete and backspace were different keys in Mac OS. In today's macOS there is basically left & right delete. Picard only responds to the right delete which is only accessible via they fn+delete key combo on most keyboards. The problem with this is it isn't intuitive to most users who are used to hitting either Command+Delete or just delete to remove an item in a list (and most casual users wouldn't need to ever use the FN key anyways).

Ok, now you got me confused. Maybe we are just talking about different keys

"Backspace" commonly is the name of the key that deletes the previously typed character. It is usually placed at the end of the numbers line above the Return/Enter key. It is usually labeled with a left pointing arrow. It would surprise me if any mac doesn't have this key as it is rather fundamental for writing.

"Delete" in a traditional keyboard layout was placed in a 2x3 block below the Insert key. Modern keyboards, especially Laptop keyboards, often have these keys either rearranged or missing. It usually is labeld "Del" or "Delete".

I think (not sure for macOS, but true for other systems) Picard by default uses "Delete" as a shortcut to remove files. So I understand your proposal to support "⌘+Backspace" in addition to "Delete", right?

Delete and Command+Delete do nothing. The only key combo that works is fn+Delete, which is the Backspace invocation.

I think the description is misleading. As I understand it the goal is to support Command+Backspace in addition to Del
