I could finally reproduce this. The trick was that only modified files where affected. We tried to pull the text color from the color theme, but it looks like this broke with the move to Qt5.

Maybe you have to help me a little, because I'm not a KDE user What I did to test this was setting "Workspace Theme" > "Look And Feel" to "Breeze Dark" in the settings. I first didn't change anything in other settings of the "Appearance" section.

In addition I tested various other color schemes that are dark, but all give proper text color in Picard. Might also be worth noting that I tested with KDE 5.14

What is your configuration?

Um, I too am using Breeze Dark.

I cannot reproduce this on KDE Plasma with the default Breeze Dark theme, the text color is always white for both selected and deselected files. What theme are you using?
