Long story short, I'm cleaning up a very messy collection and that includes scanning a lot of tracks that have minimal tags. I have my preferred releases configured with album at max, compilation at min, and single pretty low. When scanning, though, I'm getting mostly VA releases, artist compilations, and singles. For instance, I have a match for this recording (acoustid 0e74820b-3f0f-4366-860f-96806a58a42e): https://beta.musicbrainz.org/recording/4655137f-c9a4-4ffb-892d-66323414cd07. Rather than the first release, Hidden Treasures, I'm getting the 99 Ways to Die promo single. I guess that particular acoustid is most closely associated with that release, but then what's the point of using preferred releases? If it's the same recording, I want to get the album, not the single.
